Chana Dal, also known as Split Bengal Gram, is prepared from mature chickpeas by removing the outer skin and splitting the kernels into smaller, rounded halves. It has a naturally nutty flavour, firm texture and excellent versatility in cooking. Chana Dal is widely used in Indian cuisine and is also suitable for food-service, food-processing and international bulk markets.
Chana Dal is produced from carefully selected Bengal gram (desi chickpeas). The grains are cleaned, dehulled and split to obtain the characteristic yellow-coloured dal. Properly processed Chana Dal has a uniform appearance, consistent size and good cooking performance. It is a staple ingredient in many South Asian cuisines and is particularly valued for its distinctive flavour and texture. It can be cooked as a traditional dal, incorporated into curries and vegetable preparations, or processed into flour and snack products. For international trade, Chana Dal can be supplied in different quality specifications depending on the requirements of importers, wholesalers, distributors and food manufacturers. Cleaning, grading and sorting can be carried out to achieve the desired export quality and consistency.
Chana Dal is suitable for international markets, but import regulations, duties, food-safety requirements and documentation differ between countries. Importers should confirm the current requirements of their destination country before shipment.
